creative director decided to switch things up; Tokyo James spring/summer 2020

Making his debut at London Collection’s Mens, James explored the duality of human nature as well as existence with a juxtaposition of hard edges with soft lines present in most of the looks presented. He revisited buyer’s favorites by utilizing animal prints on silks shirt sets, impeccably tailored suits as well as fluid detailing on structured boy shirts. The designer’s love of leather also came to the fore with full leather looks in some parts and chic accents in others, particularly in the boxy leather belts used as harnesses and tying into the concept of duality that Tokyo James presented. The opposing softness became evident in the gorgeous stripe knits that were used to juxtapose both silks and leathers. For a brand that’s always [brilliantly] maintained a hyper sexual point of view, it was refreshing to see this shift in presentation.
